The 1837 House Seminar Policy

Please read the following information carefully.
|
|
Seminars:
|
- A $60 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve space.
- Seminar prices are listed per seminar.
- A ‘prep’ day will be held on the day before the seminar. If you are not able to attend the ‘prep’ day, you are responsible for purchasing the paints needed.
- Invoices for workshop fees & surface costs will be sent prior to workshop.
- If invoice is not paid in full by due date, your space will be made available to others and deposit will be forfeited.
- All project surfaces must be purchased at 1837 House.
- Cancellations must be confirmed in writing, via e-mail, fax or letter.
- Cancellations after fee has been paid will be refunded (less deposit) only if space can be filled from our waiting list.
- Decisions to cancel a seminar due to insufficient registration will be made approximately 4 weeks prior to workshop and all fees (incl. deposit) will be refunded.
- Information concerning prep and supplies will be sent with the invoice.
- Required supplies will be available for purchase at SFAS.
- Paint and mediums are normally provided for all seminars. Some paint companies are cutting budgets and if they do not supply paint, you will have to bring or purchase your own. We will inform you of this if necessary.
- Sorry! Seminar surfaces are not available until prep day due to scheduling and storage.
- Workshops are from 9 am to 5 pm with a one hour lunch break.
- A complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon snacks are served daily. Coffee & water are supplied all day. Sodas can be purchased for .65 each.

Beginner Workshops
|
|
The 1837 House Beginner Workshop is suggested before signing up for other workshops
and seminars offered here. Terms and techniques are taught along with
samples of eight different designs. Please discuss your prior experience
with the staff before registering for workshops. They are qualified to guide
you in workshop selection. Teachers and other students 'Thank You' for doing
this.

Cell Phones
|

In consideration of the creative process, please refrain from using
cell phones during workshop. Emergency calls can be received at 717-299-4973.
Calls must be taken outside of the classroom.

Be Prepared for Workshop!
|
|
You are responsible to get your prep instructions and surface before workshop begins.
Please complete all required prep work and be ready for your workshop!! Our Prep
day is for SEMINARS only, not our "daily local" workshops.
Workshop refunds only given if we cancel. Project surfaces must be
purchased at 1837 House. Workshops subject to cancellation 2 weeks prior to
workshop due to insufficient registration.

Weather Update
|
|
All of us at 1837 House do not want you to risk life & limb coming to
workshop in bad weather. When workshop is cancelled due to bad weather students
will be given a 6 hour notice by phone and the workshop will be rescheduled.
Please check your messages or call the shop before leaving for your workshop!
If workshop was held and you were unable to attend because of bad conditions
in your area, store credit will be given for workshop fee.
